Welcome to the forum.

We don't have a Haynes manual for the Vectra C model. What is your problem, maybe we can assist you in resolving the issue.

I've also moved this thread to the correct forum for you.

The car engine temperature shows allways cold,so i changed the thermostat, which it looked like being in the open position, what i m worried because the dashboard gauge still shows cold,i mean its not moving no matter how long i let the engine run,i think there is air left in the cooling sistem, but i just don t find the radiator cap,if anybody knows what would be the problem...because when i turn the heating on it becomes very hot instantly, but it still showes that the engine its cold, what i don t know if there is any other way to release the air from the cooling sistem, and where is that radiator cap its located cos i don t find it.
Or what would be the reason why its not showing the temperature?
Also i found the oil filter which its behind the engine at this model, because i wanted to service myself,i changed the air filter, but i just don t have any idea how to change the oil filter, because of his location and how to take it off!I ordered the filter, paper filter arrived, but just i don t know how to change it,maby if you could help me with that as well please, and there is also one of the dashboard lights on,a full yelow circle with surrounded by two little half circles. It being told to me it comes from the brake sensor,so i took down one of the tyres, and find out the sensor being cracked, and full of dust and mess. However that thing which is cracked its located near the little screw thing where you release the air from the break sistem, close to the brake pads, just it has a separate cable connection, and i don t know is how shall i order it,and how is called.
One more little thing,i have a sharp metal noise coming on from the belts side, when i cold start the engine after 2 seconds it starts,i think it comes from the alternator, because recently it being done a mass fly wheel and cluch change, should that noise would be because it moved something when the engine was moved?i m not an expert on this, just trying to fix this car, because i bought it for my girlfriend,it looked cheap, but than don t had service history book, now paying that stupidness what i done, but because i don t have more money to put on it,would prefer to do it myself, being without a job at the moment.
Thank you

What engine does it have?

Do the coolant hoses feel hot to the touch after a little while? The fact the heating is working in the cabin would suggest its circulating fine in my mind. It could be a sensor issue, but check the hoses to make sure its circulating okay first.

The sharp metal sound could well be a tensioner issue. That needs immediate inspection by a professional as cambelt or belt failure could cause engine damage. Or at the very least you need someone car savvy to look at it. It could be a simple repair.

Let me know your engine and I'll be able to expand further on your comments.

Did you just change the thermostat or the whole unit?

I think there is a temperature sensor part that screws into the thermostat housing & this tells the ECU what the water temperature is.

I seem to remember on some models you have to change the whole thermostat unit (including temperature sensor), where as others can just change the actual water temperature regulator part.

Anyway, sounds like the temperature sensor is not working.
I think if it was disconnected the radiator fans might be always on, so you would notice this.

The coolant system might be self bleeding & there might not be a a radiator cap. The expansion tank is where you fill the coolant system & seems to be the way to let air escape.

Gerry
