Re: Vectra b diesel
Stands for Andy Stobbs - my name haha.
Yeah I can't see the diesel being any different, the petrols all have cast iron blocks too, so much the same weight as a diesel.
You will need the bonnet removed of course, probably easier to cut and re-join the piping to washer jets; as they can be a real fiddle to get out without damaging either the jet or the bonnet paint.
Undo your minimal diesel wiring, fuel line etc, don't forget the clutch pipe - it has a small spring steel clip which holds the large alloy end of the pipe onto the piece sticking out of the gearbox.
gear linkage itself needs removing etc. etc. you know all the rest.
Found that with a rope around the very front of the engine (on the alternator bracketry with a petrol) and a second length lifting in middle - around the exhaust manifold, that the angle was pretty much perfect, the front came out first, and the gearbox tipped up and cleared everything perfectly, didn't have to tug this way or that at all.
Regards
Andy
Ps. you aren't that far away from me Algheroslk, less than 45 mins down the A55
