One thing I have never done is check the engine earth points - by check i mean unscrew clean and refit, as they seemed quite solid.

I found the plate near the dis-pack are there any more points? and can I do this without disconnecting the battery?

the piece of metal underneath the plastic cover ontop of the N/s/f shock housing is an earth bus bar.

Really, if you had an earth problem, you would know.
