Default vec loss of power

today when driving home i got a bad flat spot like a miss fire and a load of grey/black smoke came out of the back end
the dont do it all the time once its had its hissy fit its fine
back to how it was

its had new plugs about 3 weeks ago any idea
or it just dying and just waitting to go bang on me

well hard to say tbh ste could be a dodgy fpr and dodgy wire has it been parked up for long periods when it does it?

Black smoke is mainly a sign of overfueling. I would investigate the FPR (replace it), and possibly get the injectors checked as well.

Its possible some debris jammed the injector open for a split second and thus caused the engine to overfuel on one cylinder causing what appears to be a missfire.

So:

Fuel filter - Just in case its not stopping crap from the tank
FPR - If its bleeding, or not within manufacturered limits it could be causing the car to overfuel.
Injectors - If it continues.

Some fuel treatment would be worthwhile in the meantime.
