Default 2000 W Reg 2.0DTi power loss?

Hi guys i am just wandering if anyone knows any solutions which could help me.

I have a 2000 W Reg 2.0DTi Vectra and for the past few days i have had the MIL light come on when its gets hot but its only on for a few minutes then its off again but again it comes back on. Ive had 3 different diagnostic tools plugged in but neither of them show any faults with the car.
I have changed the oil, the air filter and the MAF sensor but still it lacks power.

There is a hissing sound coming from near the turbo but i don't know if this is normal or not.

I know someone with a 2003 (new shape) Vectra 2.0DTi who had a similar problem and he said there is a vacuum pipe along the left of the engine on his that worn down but that pipe is not on my engine.

Please help me.

Thanks.

The turbocharger will whistle under load, and it will hiss and dump boost if its not under load.

If its actually like it has no boost it is most likely a split boost hose. Check the intercooling and air hosing for splits or leaks. Your engine doesn't have that specific pipe, but your well advised to check all your vacuum pipework for leaks. On the boost side of the pipework you'll lose power if its leaking.

P.S. sorry for the late response, I'm very busy at the moment. I'll keep an eye out on this thread for the next couple of days, and welcome to VVON.

i did notice a vacuum pip to the left of the turbo i think its going to the wastegate that looks like its its caved in on its self with a small hole in it so im gonna try to change that.

does sound like it will be that pipe bud any vac pipes that are damaged will stop the car from holding boost pressure hence lack of power

That is most likely your problem.

On another note, I've sent you a PM regarding your signature.

hey guys thanks for your help on this problem.
I have now found out that the problem lies with either the inlet manifold switchover valve or the inlet manifold switchover solenoid valve. i have full power now when the MIL isn't on but it still comes on occasionally so I'm going to replace them then should be fine. (i hope)

Please note this is the engine layout for the X20DTH engine only. The X20DTL and Y20DTH will be different.

If you have access to opcom, you can check the operation of the manifold switch over valve, without the engine running. that way you will actually hear the flap move into position for higher rpm.

You could simulate it without opcom, using a decent sized syringe (50ml or more) to vacuum the line, and just feed the electrical part of the switch with 12v.

hey guys just to let you know i got the power loss sorted.
on the front right of the X20DTH and Y20DTH engine there is a little black valve with a vaccum pipe attatched to it called a swirl flap diaphram. It was leaking and cutting power.

A genuine one from vauxhall £17 + VAT

now runs sweet.

i will post a picture of it so if anyone else is experiencing similar problems then hopefully it will help.
