Re: car's max speed 80, if i go beyond, it will cut off when slowing down
Are you saying your car is physically unable to break 80mph?
What engine is it?
How is the fuel.consumption?
Do you have engine management light on?
We need as much information as possible to help diagnose the problem. Did you do anything before it started, has it been sat, why were the parts you mentioned above changed?
Re: car's max speed 80, if i go beyond, it will cut off when slowing down
needed to change those parts as they were due to be changed.
my engine is the z16xe 1.6 petrol opel vectra b
fuel consumption is normal.
the management came on and came off some time back.
when the problem started - my brother used my car and felt is was a racing car - mash down hard, high revs.
when i got it back, the rpm went up to 3000 rpms, then came back down, then cut off, retarted, did the same then settled back down, since that time, i am unable to break the 80 kmph. if i do, i will get the necessary speed, but the engine seems llike it is gasping for air or bucking , then when i slow down after breaking that 80 barrier, the car would cut off.
after changing those parts the car would start easier, without having to tumble it many times.
i would like to break than 80kmph barrier with out having to worry that the car would buck and later cut off.
Re: car's max speed 80, if i go beyond, it will cut off when slowing down
sorry, it is an automatic
however, before i changed the parts it rev'ed up and down when at idle
esp when the engine was cold, or after it cut off before the parts were changed.
Re: car's max speed 80, if i go beyond, it will cut off when slowing down
as the parts have changed, the idle is normalized,
however, when i past 80 kmph the car gets like it is struggling for air and starts to buck
then in slowing down it will cut off.
if i back off the accelerator pedal, it will start the cutting off phase, the revs will go up and down.
e.g at 80 kmph, there will be an average of 2000 revs. so when i back off when i go over 80
the revs will be max 2000 and fluctuate up and down to this max and then cut off totally at stop.
