The codes, don't clear, its deletes them, then they instantly come back.

Have tried a 'known good' airbag bulb from another car and nothing changed.

Have tried everything under the passenger seat, had the seat out today to check the wires under the carpet and its all ok. Changed the pretensioner for a known good aswell.

With respect to shorting the airbag, that happens automatically, the plugs have a little 'flap' on them that shorts the two contacts out upon the plug being removed. One on the static side of the squib, one on the pass. airbag I've just got.

I've just been back again to the scrap yard, have got the srs unit from a prefacelift, the srs unit from a facelift - the one I got the airbag from yesterday, and a drivers squib from the same car aswell. Will fit them tomorrow probably and see what happens.

Rather than start a thread, can I ask a question about the air-bags in the seats?

When I give my chassis number to the dealer spares dept he rattles off what the car has fitted etc. and he said I have side air-bags in the seats, underneath the seat there are electric cables going somewhere and as the seat is neither heated or adjusted electronically I assume these are for the air bag - should there also be plastic covers on the side of each seat saying airbag?

Wiring for the following is under the seats:

1. Side airbags (those fitted)
2. Seatbelt pretensioners (all models)
3. Heater pads (On models with heated seats / GSi's use the heated circuit for electrical power)

Unless the outside of the front seats have the plastic covers on them stating airbag they aren't fitted.

Success, the light is out!

What it took,

1. disconnect battery
2. undo centre console
3. remove steering wheel cowls
4. unclip seat wiring so the pretensioners are no longer connected
About 10 mins has elapsed by now
5. Remove drivers squib plug
6. remove drivers airbag
7. Remove steering wheel and squib
8. discarded squib (was throwing up high resistance fault)
9. remove plug from srs unit and remove unit
10. install replacement srs unit
11. re-centre and install replacement squib,
12. refit steering wheel and drivers airbag
13. plug seats back in
14. ign onto setting 2
15. reconnect battery

I think it was the srs unit, when I'm feeling brave I will plug the opcom in and see if the new srs unit comes up as programmed. Right now I don't want to breathe on it.

LOL, If the lights out, then all is good.

Generally speaking, in my experience when an ECU fails op-com refuses to talk to it at all. It never even connects.

Decided to post again in this thread rather than start another, I seem to have airbags in my front doors, how do they deploy with the door card in the way? And do they work in conjunction with the side airbags in the seats?

Thanks
