Default courtesy light help

On my Vec i had a single festoon courtesy light (no map lights) connected via a stupid ribbon cable, i am now trying to replace this with a pre facelift one with map lights.

the new 1 has got standard spade terminals so i ran 2 wires from the light to the connector at the bottom of the A Pillar.

Pin 1 and 4 on the connector went to the old light via a ribbon so i used push on connectors to connect the new one to the connector, now the light wont work i have checked the fuses they are all fine, the wire is fine and so is the bulb.

The old light had a delay, is this done via a relay or something else?

also does anyone have a pin out for the A pillar connector? as i also need to fit 2 lighted sun visors and 2 rear grab handle lights and an omega auto dim mirror.

any help or guidance would be appreciated.

I fitted a courtesy light from an Omega CDI (main light, 2 maplights) + the sun visors and loads of other things and they all worked a treat, delay etc.
I had an additional loom added when the sunroof was fitted, so I upgraded the fuse and joined the cables for the sunvisor electrics with the sunroof cables near the rearview mirror.

You say this courtesy light from a preface-lift Vecy strange wouldnt have thought they would be that different.

I think Leeky will advise

I can't think of where the wiring is or what you need for the interior light because I've never changed a ribbon one I'm afraid!

Prefacelifts were normally wired, whereas facelifts were ribboned. I would just go down scrappies and trace back the prefacelift loom and remove it complete, and then replace yours. Ripping apart another car first is always better (especially when it isnt yours!)

As for the auto dim rear view mirror from an Omega:
earth is brown (any earth point is fine)
ignition live is the grey with lighter blue trace (take from ignition live only)

If you can wait a week or two, I will have my dash out and will spend a bit of time looking into which wires in the N/S kick pannel you need to connect in order to run the map lights and sunvisor lights (my car has them) and is pre facelift.

dimming/ fade off is done by the multitimer

Thank you all for your input.

fsurfer
have been looking for a roof loom from the scrappys, around here they wont allow you on the site, they have to remove what you want! that ups the price. They wanted £45 for the roof loom that they split ripping out!!!!
also looked on ebay for one.

Leeky
the autodim mirror i have the wiring all sorted for that including a small joystick for the motors.

ASTOBBS
The kick pannel info would be fantastic.
the multitimer, is that the plug in module that slots in behind the fuse board?

Thats a pain, all the scrappies I know are bring your own tools and really fair prices, when I had the Veccy it was still new so there were only prefacelifts around so I went for the new Omega's that were there - who said taxi drivers were bad drivers lol

I had an aftermarket sunroof fitted so it was in addition to the std loom, it was alot easier to wire up the visors and my led lighting - all you need is an earth and a fused live, as the visors only light up when you lift the panel, so just run a couple of cables obviously watch out for places that the cables may rub and use an in-line fuse.
