Thumbs down Engine oil

Okay, after some mods on the car, it's time to think about the vital parts.. ( Isn't that the wrong way around? haha )

I want to change the oil in my x25xe, but want to know what is recommended, and what is better than that...

I have seen some sludge, but that doesn't worry me too much, but it tells me that she can do with some new fluid

I have read that to get rid of some sludge, you could run it on 15w40 for a 500 - 600 miles, and then change to good oil... also heard of some Diesel in the oil before the cleaning, and then change with good oil, although I think that could cause problems....

Any advise on engine flush fluids? I have read good and bad things, but mine has done 120000 miles now, and don't want trouble after that

Can you advise me on what to use? I have done approx 3000 miles now in this car, and thinking of changing it somewhere next week....

Thanks guys!

go to a local motor factors get the wynn's engine flush put in run car till its warm then turn car off drop oil and filter and replace with a good 10/40w i personally use millers in my cars or cars i service its between £18-£22 depending where you buy it from but i have found this to be a very good oil also replace the oil filter with a good quality one from a motor factors about £7 and job's a good un bud

do not put derv in a petrol engine not a very good idea

and my vec (red one) had millers in at 140+ thou and ran like a dream bud and was a quite engine too

or you could try our sponsor opie oils they have many products at very good prices too bud

I got the part-synthetic (as recommended in the Halfords book) to use when I fix oil sender leak / remove sump, engine has only done 26,000 so no need de-sludge. Plus I got a 8 piece screw-driver set worth £9 lol was actually the best deal in my area.

Cars not burning oil and I can live with the leak, levels fine. But will use when I do remove the sump.

As above really. I highly recommend you speak to Opie Oils. They also have there own website, and will happily advise you on a suitable oil over the phone. Shipping is also no problem.

Opie Oil are oil gods as well - They seriously know their stuff. You'll also enjoy club discount with them as well.

If it was me - I'd be looking at a very good 10w40, semi synthetic from the likes of Motul, Silkolene, Fusch, or similar.

Wynn's engine flush seems a good idea; but don't make a habit of it every engine oil change. Diesel is a big no no - Engine flushes are specially made. Opie Oils could also supply this for you as well I'm sure.

No disrespect ment, but I just checked the price of the fuel filter for my 2000 SRi V6 - changed it recently and its expensive + p&p = silly price, cheaper from my local parts shop and the GM dealer???

Its where delivery doesn't help - That said, you won't find a better place to regularly get oil from. I bet some of their filters are pretty competitive. GM filters are dirt cheap, its hard for anyone to compete with that to be fair.
