I can only speak for the x25xe engine.

Look by the crank pully, the sump inlet had to be checked.

To get to it you would need to remove the timing belt + rollers, crank pulley and the timing belt rear cover and also remove the oil sump.

Its pretty common on higher mileage X20XEV's for the oil pump to fail, or the feed pipe to the top of the block, gets clogged up and stops flowing oil.

To be honest, if its run with no oil in the top end you've likely done some damage to the cams, and I really wouldn't bother fixing it unless your handy with a spanner and don't mind getting your hands dirty. If its only been run briefly then its possible with the pump/pickup pipe sorted you'll be fine... ITs worth the risk, as a new oil pump could be fitted to a replacement engine thus your not losing anything out of doing it.

Replacement engines are cheap, and you can have it out and back in, in a day.

For the oil pump, check this thread: Oil problem on 2L ECOTEC

right them..so if i was to take the oil filter off..start the car and oil pumps out does this mean the pump is ok...would it be any easier to free a blocked pipe...also the car was only run for a very short time on he drive just starting it up a few times
