Default Its back :(

Fitted the sealed air box yesterday car is a lot quieter but definately more power, so the induction kit is remaining off and then driving home the strange messing noise came back WTF

I contacted an exhaust place described the thump I had and the random noise - flexible joint they said.

I'm I going mad and it could be something as simple as this, I looked around the web and I could only find a similar issue but that was for the alfa.

I've moved your thread to the technical section mate.

Its possible. Alfa Romeo's suffer with problematic flexy's as well as Vectras.

Sorry about the mis-post.

The guys I used, who mod exhausts in Cardiff can easily check this by making a hole in the exhaust and inserting a mirror to check the cat and the flexi if there's no external signs. So that will be my next step.

The pieces seem to be falling into place, I only recently replaced the top engine damper which was shot, straight after the car landed with a thump I had lack of power, the strange noise.
When the cars hot, parked and ticking over, if I put my foot on the left exhaust pipe ..push down, the engine tone changes and no dfifference if I do the same to the right pipe.

Its possible its the flexy. For the cost of it, I would just get it replaced with a stainless one. If its rattling or broken, you'll clearly see it for yourself.

I didn't do a close up inspection as I only have a hydraulic jack and no stands at the time, still I'll see what they find tomorrow as all clues fit

If your car is low, it usually takes quite a beating on the v6 downpipes. So hopefully thats your problem. With everything else done recently, you've sorted lots of things so it should be plain sailing from now on.

Least you've fixed other problems along the way. If the car is fine, except for this noise (before it was both bad and noisy) then your already getting somewhere.

True its been factory lowered and have compared against another V6, mine is definately lower. Now I also thought that as how often do we look at every connection / gasket and as the noise isn't there all the time... been down a few wrong paths, though I did think to myself at the lights recently the exhaust sounds different...blowing but never investigated further as I was convinced it was something more serious and costly.

I wouldnt say so much wrong paths, more other things that needed doing, and to be honest, they were likely the cause of your lack of power anyway. So they needed doing.
