the standard boxes are ok tbh just for out an out performance the speed is excellent and a 3.0 conversion makes them better as well

My 3.0's performance was staggering even with the standard flywheel and F25 gearbox. 3rd gear is excellent, and I'd keep the F25 for that alone as you can be motoring some serious speed before your dipping into 4th.

Even a moderately standard 3.0 gives the Vectra plenty of power. Mine was running 219bhp, with just a 3.8FPR, panel air filter, de-cat and powerflow centre section. The rear box was just an Irmy job, more than up to the challenge of the power.

If you get a flywheel from soemwhere reputable you'll fine. Courtenay Sport or LMF both do good flywheels. You start having problems when too much metal is removed from the flywheel. Also, remember the lighter the flywheel, the less inertia it carries uphill. You'll find with a lightened flywheel that the car will struggle to go up steep hills in high gears (low revs), due to the reduced inertia on the flywheel slowing the engine down.

Performance wise, it makes a huge difference to the engines throttle response, and it gives a real urgency to heavy driving, rather than feeling slow and unresponsive like it usually does.

If your plan is to build a track car I seriously recommend two things over anything else:

1. You fit big brakes. A proper kit from the likes of Hi-Spec, Tarox, Brembo, AP Racing etc
2. You change the flywheel.

Both these mods will give you more edge, and the brakes will enable you to consistently brake harder, and later, thus giving you a better advantage over more powerful cars.
