Default Early 2.6 Oil Coolers

Did they suffer with failure like the 2.5 versions before the new stainless versions were used?

I've seen one that fits my requirements (OK its a 2.6 but I'll live. lol), but its advertised with all the signs of oil cooler failure, yet listed as head gasket gone with only 63k?!?

Seems far too low a mileage to me, but I just wondered if they suffered with them as well. It could be a bargain!

Advice and answers appreciated.

when my mate had his vec c 3.2 elite before we stripped it (stupid semi auto) that had the same cooler as what was in mine as it ended up in my vec straight fit and it was the exact same as mine apart from the leak lol

They're OK.... I've owned one before. Ironically that was a 2002 2.6 SRi estate as well... I just prefer 2.5/3.0's.....

I'm also suspicious of it being a head gasket as well, but then I don't know if 2.6's suffered with the same oil cooler problems as 2.5's and 3.0's. I might just take a risk as its low miles.

I don't have the money sat here spare for yours Tom, and its a saloon; I need an estate, as having a saloon just isn't practical anymore.

If it was an estate and I had the dollar to spare I'd already have it.
