right I followed the how to that was provided to me by Tom and did it spot on and now another problem as happened, the drivers side windows work and auto close when the key button is pressed, but the passanger side windows don't at first the front passenger window did but not the rear passenger window, well I had to take the front passenger door card off to sort one of the speaker wiring out, and then the front passenger window stopped working, well it works when i press the electric window button in the car but you know normally when you keep the button in for 2 secs the window would go do all the way on its own well now it doesn't??? confusing i know, does anyone know what i've done wrong or what i have disturbed for this to happen
Try puting the window down, then put it up.. when it gets to the top, remove your finger from the button for a second or 2, then hold it in again (puting the window up)- hold it there for about 5 seconds...
Now try your one-touch feature. That should reset 1-touch for you.
the kerd lights stopped working yesterday when i took the glove box out and the door card off I checked all the fuses and there all good, I have 2 wires that are brown and black and 3 wires that are brown and red, i have tried all the wires and found only 2 wires 1 brown/black and 1 brown/red that actually closed the windows and sunroof when i pressed the button on the key, all the wires where the same thickness lol that is whay i tried all combinations lol
Yep- they're all the same thickness from what I remember- it's the pin stripe on the wires that vary in thickness.
I'm going to do this mod to my GSI tomorrow, so I'll grab some better pics and post them up here for you.
Regarding kerb lights- they're not anything to do with the wires used for this mod as far as I know (pretty certain about that!), so when you tried a different combination, it must have done something.
Try disconnecting your battery for a few hours, then reconnect and see what happens (With no wires bridged)- once you cure this other problem, you can then go about doing the TC mod the right way.
Pics will follow tomorrow afternoon/ evening after I've done mine.
update - reset the one touch windows like you said Tom and the total close works perfectly now all windows and sunroof close when I press the button on the key to lock the doors yippee lol, just need to sort the kerb lights out now and find out why they have decided not to work
The kerb lights are almost certainly due to wiring issues I'd say. If you've had the door card off then I'd safely assume that the connector hasnt seated correctly, or the bulb has blown from being moved around maybe.
As you found out already, the electric windows will not automatically close unless the 1 touch operation for each window has been programmed.
