Might sound a silly question- But is it only like that when stationary?
With no power-steering, my Vec was almost impossible to drive, even a few yards. I found this out after it cut out on me a few months ago whilst half way round a roundabout.
Does the PAS free up with more revs? e.g. if you fast idle the car when stationary at say 1500rpm, does it free up completely?
I didnt think the 2.2s had electric power steering, I thought they were driven off of the belt just like any other Vec B setup... I'll have a read up, and see if any common faults are associated with it for you. I dont remember my old 2.2 having electic PAS though.
