Default Petrol flap lock motors breaking in the locked position?

Is it normal for these to suddenly die in the locked position??

It was working on Saturday when i stuck some petrol in. Go to do the same on sunday and i can't get the flap open. It's a good thing i know about the emergency flap in the boot to open the thing and manually lock it afterwards

They could stick in any position mate. If the motor dies for whatever reason it will stop working in whichever position its sat when it does.
