Is a litre of oil consumed in 500 miles bad?

its don't seem to leak anywhere and it don't have a puff of smoke on start up anymore after removing the flame trap box

its got to be going somewhere, if its not got a leak it will be coming out the exhaust or into the coolant, after a drive take the dip stick out and check for blue smoke coming out

Its a XEV engine

I have noticed that the rocker gasket is very slightly damp but its not leaking as such and the plug holes are dry

The only thing i know about it is when the 'Check oil' message comes up on the MID when on the motorway

It was only service 2k ago but its been loosing oil for a good while now

I did notice this evening the oil leak from the r/c is a little heavier than i though so this is on the cards to be changed. It had a small oil patch next to the coil pack when i checked it.

Has anyone got the torque setting for the bolts for the r/c btw??

Mine is a petrol 2.2 and uses about a liter in a thousand miles. As for where it goes, some say it shouldn't use any, but by my reckoning that has to be a bit of ********.

Oil is the engine lubricant so some *must* get used even if it's a tiny amount and some will get swiped up the cylinder walls every stroke of the pistons and then burnt off the cylinder walls every combustion cycle, so even the smallest amount *has* to be burnt off. With the miles going on, the piston rings wear and wear so more oil's used to lubricate the pistons,so the oil useage increases... and that's just one example
