So, after finding the information out, and then having to make a decision on what to do, we've managed to get hold of a facelift saloon which we're going to use to re-shell the supertouring. The idea being it gives us 9 points minimum to classify as a radically re-built car, and thus (once confirmed) should enable us to keep the logbook for the ST, the number plate and just have the colour and VIN amended. Think this might be a looooooooooong thread! lol.
We should have the new car here sometime this week, for the pricey sum of £130!!
So me and Donna made a start today on stripping the inside of the ST, and no sooner than we had removed the glovebox we found a Signma alarm system control box... Following the wire into the engine bay, we realised it had the wiring cut just before the siren which had been removed, and all of the wiring inside the car was still live.. So we spent well over an hour and bit tracing all the wiring, removing it, and making good all the connections, then testing the engine still worked etc. We've just insulation taped the wiring for now, but once the loom is out fo the car, we're going to re-solder all the wires, and then heat shrink then before putting it back in the new shell.
Then we set about removing some of the dash and then noticed the passenger recaro seat adjuster switch had fallen through, and infact wasnt even holding in place. A few mins of thinking what to do and then we came up with the following idea:
Measured a bit of wood, cut it, drilled it with our pillar drill, drilled the plastic surround underneath and used a screw to hold the wedge in place. Switch is now rock solid and moving nowhere!
So all in all an eventful evening. Glad we did it, completely the wrong bolts were holding the adapter bars for the recaros in, and the seat belt was being held in place by a small diameter bolt with a nut on the otherside of the threaded seat belt fixing point.. Both would never have held in an impact!! :O
So we got most the dash out now on the passenger side, also removed the cente console as well. Will do the drivers side tomorrow, then remove the entire dash!
A few pics of it now:
So looking forward to a complete nut and bolt re-build.

Also, managed to squeeze in a lil mod:
Recaro wheelchair... Yeah baby!!!
