Default ST200 #0002 Rebuild thread

Well think i had better start a thread on the rebuild of my vectra ST200 number 0002.

I first bought the car in jan 06 £4.5k from a guy in ipswich.

Pictures of the car on the way home.

The bulbs werent great so put some new ones in for better vision

Great only get home to find she wont go up my drive

The car was sold to me as almost standard, a few upgrades were done, facelift headlights, newer calipers slightly different design. A so called enlarged throttle body(just had the step removed) and the 3 pipe mod and a magnex catback exhaust system with twin slash backbox. I was told it was running 204 bhp which i never believed.

I first got it rolled and it hit the heady heights of 178bhp 151lbs.

So start to work on it, first fitted a raid cone filter, ripped out the plastic intakes and put a massive cold air feed in place, Then new fuelcat 10mm ht leads, full service and then fitted the remus racing centre section with a magnex oval backbox all coupled to miltek downpipes and sports cat.

I then rollered it again in feb 06 same rollers and gained

194.1 bhp and 176lb ft so cracking gains for little work

Next i was to change the catback exhaust system to a twin exit

These were readjusted as they sat out a little to far.

Got her rollered again and she pulled with 199.9bhp 207lbs, all results were done on the same road.

Then off to PVS 06 thew best she looked since id owned it.

Exactly one year later almost to the day it all went wrong....More to follow

Well over the next year i had a few problems with driveshafts and cv joints, got towed back by the RAC 10 miles out of plymouth another cv joint gone, time was to get ready for PVS 07 all looking good car was ready, Bang day before blew another cv joint bloody thing so missed pv 07.

Time to find out what is causing this, so started taking bits off, the more i took off the more i found things wrong and bodged, virtually every bush was split, loads of bolts rounded off, calipers ceased so on and so on, the engine was using a fair bit of oil as well....So decided off the road with it.

After a good old chat with the wife we agreed to take our time and slowly rebuild it.

So i have sourced a newer engine from a 2000 sri, which is being rebuilt and will be fitted with 2x g and 2x a cams, new clutch/slave cylinder and lightened flywheel.
I now have a set of stainless steel tubular manifolds with a 200 cell sports cat.

i will be replacing my old plenums

For These

Old throttle body

For this courtney enlarged throttle body

Plenty more to follow

Sourced approx 2k of parts so far, most of them boring lol, so started doing some self help on a few items.

Got myself a brand new radiator for £35 from ebay bargin

2 new rear hubs bargin price of £70 for the pair

Stripped down 2 front hubs and painted them up

Took the rear calipers off and have cleaned painted and modded them so they can accept omega vented rear disc's

With the spacers fitted to widen the caliper

Finished caliper shows the difference in size once modded.

Have also got 4 bar fuel pressure reg, 3.0l inlet divider, new oil cooler, fuelcat ht leads 10mm.

Well thats enough for tonight, i will put more updates over the next couple of days
