Default Supertouring No. 500 Project thread

Just thought i would put my project thread on here now, since its a Vectra website.

We're over on vv oc (Pboro_girl), so some of you will notice this car, but this our new project car. We're got quite a lot planned for her, but we're going to keep the outside of the ST completely standard, as well as inside except for a few improvements. And yes, the exhaust will be changed! lmao

A few pics of the car:

We've got quite a lot planned for her, so we thought it would be kinda cool to make a diary so to speak of everything as we go along.

Hope you like, and that it fits in with the numerous excellent cars around here we've already seen!

So the to do list is as follows:

1) Replace battery and alternator
2) Replace a few blown bulbs - So I'll replace every single bulb in the dash
3) Fit cambelt cover and replace PAS bottle for the right one
4) replace the front a-pillars and fit a twin pod
5) Investigate error with temp on MID - New sensor?
6) seriously clean engine bay - its proper filthy!!
7) fit new coolant bottle
xenon headlamps - these halogen ones are crap when your used to xenons!!
9) various carbon parts (heater surround/clock surround/coin tray/some custom stuf)
10) get a cat 1 alarm fitted
11) get some door mirror surrounds - I thought I had some but dont!
12) rear electric windows
13) fit the stereo system!
14) speak to bodyshop, get the small patches of rust treated and maybe a re-spray
15) some white dials - though that can wait!
16) Light switch - It feels knackered!
17) sunglass holder
1 wire in the recaro's
19) Dare I say it - CC conversion!
20) Cruise control.
21) find a front cap for the sideskirts - Or replace them both
22) fit a 3.2 engine, now we've decided to keep it looking OEM.

I think that about covers everything for now.

Lee.

P.S. This is the only place I'm going to update the project now.

Its gonna be from a Vauxhall. Most likely will be a Vectra C GSi, but will more than likely just get the block and heads only, as dont really need much else.

Oh right.. I was thinking it would have been from an Omega.. was going to say- why don't you go for a newer engine, but if you're taking it from a Vec C, fair enough I see where you're coming from.

That will shift in a Vec B lol

In one of your pics... Why's the gear stick in 4th? Is there no gearbox in it at the moment or something?

The car is parked on a slope, which is downwards to the garage door.. Its habit to put the car in reverse from my days owning Alfa Romeo's... They tend to have a rather dodgy handbrake!!!

The car runs perfect, besides a fubared alternator which I cant change because my back is screwed! Will change it soon though. Might even wait a couple of weeks and change it with the engine.

We've sort of done our first mod already - Facelift switchgear, just waiting on 2 facelift heated seat switches to arrive before I take final pics and put them up... I dont even think thats on the list of things to do either.

A few things added to the big list again

1) Replace battery (further tests show battery is actually fine!) and alternator
8 xenon headlamps - these halogen ones are crap when your used to xenons!!
18 wire in the recaro's
19) Dare I say it - CC conversion!
20) Cruise control.
21) find a front cap for the sideskirts - Or replace them both
22) fit a 3.2 engine, now we've decided to keep it looking OEM.
23) all black door cards to replace the Supertouring stripped ones

Well, the facelift heated seat switches arrived this morning, so I've fitted them now. I cant believe how much I actually paid for them, but I've got every switch now so all is good!

A few pics of them:

I havent decided if I'm adding climate control yet, as keeping to the standard heater surround. Eventually, that will have a carbon Irmscher one as well, just need to decide if I can be arsed to do it or not!
