Default Project A AND B AND C-Z lol (Pic heavy!!)

**EDIT- This will be my main project thread now**
There's a bit of previous details in this thread. Will add some more links when I find the other threads
**EDIT- This will be my main project thread now**

Took the vec off the road at the weekend to start a mini-(ish) project, called 'Project A'... Took me ages to think of that name!

I've called it this, as I have a larger project to come petty much straight after this one which will be named 'Project B'

Project A has a few things in the pipeline...

Removing the 'i' badge from my top Irmy grill and replacing it with something new. I'm sure you've all seen the 'i' badge before, so here it is.... GONE!

It's left a mark where the glue was, but nevermind- I'll give it a little sand down, before I fit the new badge over the top of it...

Another thing I have to do is remove the headlight brows which no matter what I treied- just would not stick at the edges (WHERE THE BROWS GO THIN).

I tried Tiger Seal, and also some extremely strong double sided tape.. but none would hold them.

So I'm going to start again... and quite possibly try and source some PLASTIC brows, as opposed to these crappy fiberglass ones.

The other blooper is- I fitted them in the best position I possibly could, but at night when the lights are on, you would see a line of light above the headlight, because of this gap between the brow and the rubber:

This sticker's coming off

and being replaced with something totally different. Possibly going to paint it too.

Another reason for it coming off the road is this...

This is what happens when you use sh*tty budget tyres.

I don't have a spare white GSI rim,

.... so have had the 16" steel spare on for the last 5 days or so and it looked hideous.

So.. all 4 wheels will be getting wrapped in nice new, shiny rubber, which also helps the handlin of the car- Unlike these budgets have done!

These will also be getting a lick of paint:

Top (Front, back, and center) plenums are going to be white, and the lower plenums (Underneath), and rocker covers, are all going to be red.

Possibly finished in some nice red silicone hoses- I think this will look quite different, and keep me on track with my red/ white theme. (I hope!).

Lastly (What I can think of at the moment)- I need to try and get a new foglight for the GSI facelift bumper as this on decided to let go and I ran it over:

All the lens is intact, and I have the plug still.. I just need to source the rear of it.

Here's what it should look like:

And... I know they're no to everyone's taste- But I have some under car neons (Red) to fit.

They were a present so I feel inclined to fit them lol.

They will hopefully be wired up to the kerb lights so when the doors open, the under car neons come on.

So.... 1st was the hardest part for me... confirming my car 'Off the road'.. Which I'm gutted about as this means I need the Mrs to drive me around everywhere (Which is scary!) in her 1.0 Corsa!

But it had to be done.

First thing I done was removed the grill from the car...

...and gave it a little sand where the superglue traces were.

I then stripped the grill down, an washed it thoroughly.

Since the new badge I've fitted was just flat on the back, I had to cut off the 2 plastic legs from the i badge and glue them onto the new one. This took some patience And sorry.. no pics for this process but I'll get some pics of the finished grill later when I go back out to the garage.

At some stage I need to get myself a heat gun to revive the black colour of my grills as they are fading to grey/ white. I suspect this will be done in project b.

Anyway.. while I had my new logo clamped onto the grill, waiting for the glue to dry thoroughly- I got the car up off the ground...

...and removed the wheels, arch liners, and front bumper...

Then the headlights..

After carefully removing the headlight brows, I saw just wat mess I had to tackle before I could even think about fitting them again (Or new ones):

Tiger seal isn't the easiest thing to remove!

I also have the double sided tape and tiger seal to remove from the back o the brows if I am to re-use them:

One done (Which took a good 40 minutes!):

One headlight done:

Will give it a bit of a rub with sandpaper then some white spirits before I refit new brows.

Anyway time ran out, as the light was fading so I packed up and left it alone for the time being...

Looking a little sorry for itself

Yesterday I wasn't in the mood for standing around scraping tiger seal and double-sided tape from the headlights and brows, so I started setting about the plenums (Which I've never ever done before!).

When I'm all finished with this project- I'll try an make a how-to for plenum removal on the 2.6.

I'm not one for getting my hands dirty these days, but I've made an exception here lol

Just got the lower part to try and remove no (But waiting for the tool to come as I never had one so ordered it from ebay).

Anyway.. at least the rest is off, so I can start stripping them down and getting them prepped up..

I'm also going to need some gunk, to clean them out properly inside:

Is it normal for there to be traces of oil inside the plenums?

I thought this is what the oil-catch tank is for?

Yeh that's what I'm hoping mate.

Just a bit scared as these plenums are going to be a right bugger to keep clean lol.

Started prepping them up today, then realised I need white primer before I paint them. I've only go grey stuff here... so.. I've just ordered some white stuff from eBay.. should be here in the next 2 days then I get painting.

No pics from today as the camera had a flat battery and I've only just found the damn charger
