OK since I was too drunk last night to do this; here's Sundays pics...
First I got some hot water in a bucket and stuck the white primer in there
Whilst I masked up the first part of the plenums
After I was happy with my masking, I then gave it the first coat
(There's a bit on the plenums you can see needs sanding- This was sorted before the last coat of primer).
And while that was left to dry, I started TRYING to remove the last part of the plenums
I succeeded (After inventing a new tool made up of the torx socket, wedged onto a thin drill bit lol).
To avoid getting any **** in the engine, I quickly covered it up with some brown paper
Here's the part I was having trouble getting off
But thanks to a friend dropping by with the new coil spring for my Mrs's car- I was well on my way
While he was here- he also advised me to clean the injectors up thoroughly and if the seals look cracked or worn- replace them. But for the time being, I've just removed the injectors, and labeled them up 1-6 and put them in little food bags for safe keeping.
Now the primer had time to dry, I gave the plenum section another coat, went for a pint, then came back and gave it a final coat of primer, allowed to dry, sanded it with 2000 grit wet&dry, then washed down with a damp cloth and allowed to dry again.
(Of course- with a few more beers in between lol) I also managed to get the HOOVER on the engine bay to pick up all the **** that could have fell inside...
Sorry got no pics of the above...
But here's some after the first coat of Vauxhall Glacier White paint was applied (I used this as it doesn't require a lacquer)
Whilst I left this to dry- I started cleaning up the track rod ends, stabilizers bars, the bottom bit where the shocks join on, and the brake disc centers with some paint preparation wipes and a wire brush.
I then gave them the first coat of
matt black very high temperature paint
before:
after:
It looks shiny in the pics as it's still wet. More pics in a minute on these...
Anyway my plenum was now dry so off for another couple of thin coats of white paint
coming along nicely now eh!!
A couple of pints and about an hour later and I had done both the front and back plenum
and had also prepped, primed, washed, masked, and painted the bottom plenum with Very high temperature RED paint. (Little of this bottom, if any- will be seen then the engines back together, but gave it a going over while I was here anyway.
Finished results of all 3 pieces now:
Just got the center one, and the rocker covers to do now
Anyway back to the wheel hubs again, and the matt black paint has dried,
Looking tidy IMO.
I then set about the brake calipers that needed redoing with the first coat, and gave the black bits another coat of matt black.
I also gave these brackets a lick of matt black as they were RUST COLOUR and when the engines complete, these show through... so this should tidy that up a bit

And that was it for yesterday folks.. off back outside now to do some more. Hopefully more pics and progress later.
