And your PC.. what connections does it have on the back? Take a pic and stick it up and I'll show you what you need.

Also- do you intend to use the existing sound system on your PC? If so, you don't need to worry, but if you want to use a different sound source (Eg. Your TV speakers, or a cinema surround system), then things get a little more complex.

If your graphics card doesn't have HDMI output, I highly recommend you purchase a new graphics card that does. VGA is a old connection type, you need to be using DVI or HDMI which are digital connections.

If your graphics card has a DVI connector, then you can purchase a DVI to HDMI lead, which will give you full digital output to your TV.

If your TV also has a sound jack plug for sound imput, its a simple case of purchasing a jack to jack lead, which you connect to your speaker output on the back of your case, and then plug into the sound imput jack on your TV's back panel.

Whats the make and model of your tv mate?
What connectors do you have on the back of your graphics card on your pc case?

yup.. DVI to HDMI is what I was going to suggest.. that's what I'm using and the picture is fantastic.

I actually have a few adaptors here too so if you need one, pay postage and it's yours. You still need a cable though

ok maybe i should clarify, its my laptop not my pc, basically i wanna RENT a film online and then sit back and watch it on the tv, (sound dont matter as the tv in the bedroom is also a flatscreen bush hd ready tv, and i have my sound system for my pc in there now, so all i need to is connect the jack to the laptop and i got the sound comin through six speakers and a sub ) the ps3's HD cable is connected to the tv so thats how i know it has a HDMI port.

the laptop is an acer aspire 5535 and the tv is a bush IDLCD32TV27HD.

Is this pic ok lads ?? let me know

Your video port on the laptop is a VGA (far left of the pic), which is the old analogue video connector.

I can't find Bush's website through google, it appears its a sub-division of Alba, but there site is also down.

You need to either look on the back of the TV for the same port, or look in the user manual to see if it has a VGA port.

If it does, then buy a lead and check it with a DVD first, as the quality may not be very good!
