To be perfectly honest, I would advise against a LCD monitor for anything requiring color accuracy. The fluorescent backlight cannot produce precise wavelengths of light that consistently correspond with what the liquid crystals can block or let through, so as a result some colors may be distorted slightly, and most importantly the contrast is limited (true black cannot be achieved).

Thanks for that Fred. I think TFT seems to way to go for me then. So I may well get a couple of those ordered

Just to answer your question, Tom... I've got two Dell 22" widescreen monitors, driven by a radeon HD 3870 gfx card. The monitors are Dell 2007 WFP's. I've had them for about three years and can't fault them. They also have different modes so you can watch movies / desktop / game with different settings specifically for whatever it is you want to do They're well connected at the back and also have a pair of usb sockets on the side, one is used for the camera and the other for the phone, job's a good'un!

Some reviews can be found here:

Dell 2007WFP review - IT Reviews

But the Viewsonic looks a good buy m8. I got the dells because I did it through my company so got a business service pack which meant that they ever f*ck up, a dell appointed bloke rings me back, turns up with a brand new one (not a recon job) and swaps the bust one out for a brand newy. Having said that, the price you can get a decent monitor such as the Viewsonic for, makes warranties a bit of a joke as you can nip oput and replace it for less than the price of a warranty, so if I was buying one now, although I'd be asking dell to pricematch, I'd probably be buying summat else.

hth m8
