So I recieved the new desk, and finally decided to wall mount my twin Viewsonic screens.
They are taking a little getting used to, and I think they might possibly be a tad too high, but I wanted to clear the desk nicely so they didnt get in the way. Its awesome for watching DVD's though!!
I still havent decided on what to do about the wires from the twin screens.. I was thinking of maybe fitting a 1" wide plastic conduit from behind the screens and then running it to down the top level of the desk to hide the cables, and then one chipboard each side of the conduit. Either that, or I could pout spacers on two pieces of chipboard and run them behind it though hiding them too.
Very nice Lee, although must agree with you- They look too high. I know if I were to sit there working all day my neck would be killing me after an hour or so.
And wow.. glad to see you do actually own a decent mouse, as well as that weird 'thing'
why do you need 2 screens? lol, you can only really watch one lot of porn at once
For a couple of reasons:
Its handy for watching TV/DVDs etc whilst still using the computer
I find it much easier to write code in one screen, and see a preview in another. If I halved the screen space of one screen it would snip the code on some lines and therefore I cant see the whole thing, hence the 2nd Viewsonic.
If I'm parts hunting on EPC, its kinda awesome keeping it running on one screen whilst still be able to use the other one for everything else. Switching between open programs gets annoying if your entering a lot of data as your searching.
And lastly, because I can use two screens, which is a justified reason all by itself!! LOL

Nothing like watching porn and working!!
The height isnt actually as bad as you imagine. I'm getting used to it now, and can use it for a few hours at a time quite happily... Though I'm thinking it might be worth lowering slightly, but since my chair doesnt fit in the desk, and its also rather high, I just increased the seat height to compensate and everything seems to be just about perfect. I'll see how the next couple of weeks go before drilling another 8 holes in the wall!!! LOL.
And stop dissing my 'mouse', its very cool. My other one is a Logitech cordless laser... I use it when I'm using my lappy... Except that wasnt my lappy it was connected too... But thats another story. LOL.
nice work i use 2 screens too for my work makes it allot easyer i must admit my gaming pc i can have 3 set up on that if i like but i think thats a bit too far lol also my m8 has a wall mounted 42" telly for keeping an eye on his servers and it looks pritty cool i never know whats going of on it but i wouldnt i aint a web hoster lol i wind him up and ask him to put top gear on all time lol
Must admit, I did have a 42" plasma, and a 22" Philips LCD monitor running on my PC for a few months, and whilst it were good for a while- the novelty of the big screen wore off after a while, so I've now reverted back to a 22" Philips, and a 26" (?) LG screen.
The Philips is used for gaming mainly, but good for viewing websites I'm designing on the other screen, in live preview mode.

All you need now is a 'proper' mouse like my Logitech trackball!
I did think about something bigger... Initially I looked at just getting a 26" or 32" LCD, but in order to get a resultion of 1920pixels across min, I was looking at £500+. So in the end decided that another identical monitor would actually be the best solution this time around.
If I had two monitors though, they'd have to match; I couldnt stand two different monitors next to each other... The difference between these two Viewsonics is already seriously making me consider purchasing a 3rd one to replace the 1st monitor... As the new 4th generation LCD is much clearer, crisp, and has a thinner (nearly half the size!) bezel which is annoying me!! The difference is seriously noticable!
I've just bought my current mouse as my old one f*cked up.. It's a Microsoft Comfort Optical (WIRED THIS TIME!) 3000, and so far it's great.
However I was told that I could have bought a Logitech G5 for similar money. I wish I did now as they're supposed to be one of the best you can by for gaming, and to me it looks like it'd be OK for my everyday tasks as well.
