It’s been reported by www.neowin.net that July 13 will be the day that Windows 7 is RTM (Released To Manufacturing). This is great news all around for Windows 7 users. This means the code will be finalized and Microsoft will give the green light to it’s manufacturers. They in turn will begin production of the millions of DVDs, that will house the new Microsoft operating system for the public to buy.

Finally in 10 days we will pass the milestone I have been eagerly waiting on. No more beta testing, or release candidates. No more five leaked builds a week. No more bi-hourly shutdowns and expiration dates; it will be the real deal – as long as there are not any major problems or setbacks. But, Microsoft should have had plenty of time to work out all the kinks and bugs. So, I expect them to keep to the schedule.

Which means we are still on track for the GA (General Availability) date of 10-22-09. This is the date where you and I should be able to go your local Best Buy or wherever and buy it off the shelf. That is when we will see how well the public likes Windows 7. Is it gonna fly off the shelves and break records? Who knows. Am I going to buy a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate? I have already pre-ordered it!

I think in the next couple of months we will see a huge increase in Windows 7 news and coverage. The closer we get to Oct.22nd, the more Microsoft will be putting out information and lots of advertising.

I know a couple of people who have been using this for a few weeks, and they say that all the problems Vista had, seem to be fixed in Windows 7.

Personally- I gave Vista a try, but got rid after a couple of weeks and went back to Windows Media Center edition as I didn't like it at all.

But I'll be willing to give Windows 7 a go, based on comments/ feedback I've had from it already.. despite it not even being publicly released as yet

am i the only person in the world who likes vista?
yes, it has a few annoying bugs but so did XP until SP2 !

pre-order pricing of Windows 7 is about £100 cheaper in the uk so if you wan't a copy go pre-order, don't wait until release date.
not sure how long for though...

i'll be waiting for a while though as i did with vista until decent support structure is in place and hardware manufacturers stop saying "it's because you're on 7 it won't work" rather than fixing their muckups.

Im really like the look of win 7, and yes whippy, you're probably on your own regarding Vista.

The only one to blame for Vista being ****e is Micro$oft... they took a perfectly good OS (XP) and put soooo much eye candy in it, plus another layer of complexity (robbed from unix) that it became unworkable.

And don't forget, you're "in the game", you can see the benefits to Vista, and tweak it according to your taste to get the best out of and turn it into the OS you want.

Your average user doesn't have either the knowledge or the experience to configure Vista so it works *for* them, rather than *against* them as most upgraders from Xp see it.

I'm very keen to try win7, I've had a copy here but have refused to put it on my main pc because there is that little bit of doubt about it. Also it refuses to install on my test machine which isn't power type compliant (will get the proper fault code name, next time I try and bitch it on lol!)
