Default Son's Peugeot 205

Car is a Peugeot 3 door 1.1 1986 205

My Son's second car and was purchased with some mods, discovered during a safety check that the following:-

n/s/front cv boot is split
o/s/front wishbone joint was almost out of its socket
both front struts have had the cheap lowering mod...std struts shorter springs
Rear axle torsion bars are shot

Even though the car has a new MOT its questionable!

Will add extra bits to this topic as my son wants a bigger engine, new grill, head lights anything the boy racers have...no he's not having my x25xe engine lol

Thanks to Leeky for his help and advice so far

Completed the replacement of the o/s front wishbone - cost £21.89, and corrected the steering wheel ( was pointing to the n/s when wheel were straight).
I just wonder how much a dealer/garage would have charged?

Loads of money Nick! LOL.

Oooh, a Mi... Yummy!

As Matt said; get a decent replacement axle; you'll spend forever and a day lining up the splines correctly if you replace them.

Good to see your doing a project thread; I look forward to pics.

Have a few feelers out for an axle, am waiting on replies, good reason for my son not to pile his friends in there lol.

Can easily take some pics, before it gets all mucked up and add a step by step guide, didnt think to take any during.

Its a metalic blue and I agree pictures speak a 1000 words.

Good News - Finaly tracked down a complete rear-axle £70 - they seem like gold, tried all over the shop, ironic thing is its round the corner from where my son works lol.
I'm going to have a look tomorrow as its off the car I'm wondering whether it will be good or bad...how can I check the torsion bars are good or bad, scrappy is saying its a good one - one of those things you only discover untill you fit. Still it has to be better than the one at the moment and the town he's based in is the divsional headquarters for the police lol.

i think lee may be able to throw some light on this spoke to a mate who said if he rembers correctly you can fit the axle from a citreon saxo to the 205 as there the same design may be a idea easier to get hold off in drum and disc brake versions if you wanted to convert it to discs all round

I thought it was the 309 that has the same rear axle?

I can't really shed light on it unfortunately - Just get a 205 rear axle, you'll be able to check them anywy. It is best checked on the car though, as the way the wheels sit tells a thousand words.

Its been a few years, but isn't that Miami blue?!?

It looks very nice, 1.9 GTi alloys are always an improvement.
