The height doesn't look too bad really.

The axle really isn't much (note thats a 1.9 GTi rear axle), and you'll also see a 1.9 8v head, and the 1.9 Mi16 engine behind it.

We were all like that. I spent waaaay too much money on my Pug. The carpet I purchase to replace the interior one was more than I paid for the car. lol.

hahaha its great as you call it your car plus its unique.

There's also the extreme...a friend I knew ages ago had a lush 2.9 Capri, engine was mint...paintwork etc been restored to its former showroom finish he had new carpets fitted in the house he used the off-cuts for his car to protect the originals....think I'm going to be sick....they were purple shag-pile hahahaha tailored to fit gross!!!

I went to Carpetright, and purchased an off-cut in almost the same red as the original, and then proceeded to fit and trim it in the bare shell of an inside. I totally stripped it to bare shell inside to lay it - I even replaced the original insulation, and added underlay!!

It took me days, as the original carpet was moulded, and the replacement was house carpet - Was nice and soft though!

Those were the days!

I used to have hundreds of pics, but I lost loads of them a few years ago when I moved.

Literally all the later pics I had of the car finally finished, the engine work, everything all gone.

Was the first (and last) full shell rebuild I ever did as well.
