Hi Guys,

it's been a while..
I was very busy,...

Hi Guys,

it's been a while..
I was very busy, family sick and so on... so not much time to chat here...

anyway, this morning I have paperclip tested the Vectra.
It came up with 0100 and 0335
I know the 0100 is the MAF sensor, and I just ignore that for now as that has been changed 2 months ago, and I've been driving for a week with the EM light on prior to changing it...

But the second one worries me a bit, and might explain some minor issues I have ( had )

Maybe you've read that my car cuts out every now and then..
Lee first advised me to clean the Idle control valve, and that worked..
Since a week, the EM light comes on for a second or 2, and then goes out again...
This ONLY happens when slowing down for a junction or any other way of slowing down... the light comes on, and as soon as I want to make some speed, the light goes off and everything's fine...
at 1 or 2 occasions the car just died, and started straight away after that...

on 1 occasion the light came on, the car died, and no way I could get it running again... only after a few tries it fired up, and drove like nothing happened... and not in safe mode, but with all the power that is there...

Now I know that P0335 is the Crankshaft Position Sensor.
But, does that explain any of the above issues?

As far as I know, that sensor tells the engine when to fire the plugs...
And if that is true, all of the above makes sense..

Please let me know..

Pleased with the days fiddle-ings

Have spent a few more hours giving the car some...

Have spent a few more hours giving the car some attention today, had to take the rear bumper off due to it almost being left behind on a farm track in scotland, it had popped out of the clips on the side and refused to go back in.

So while it was off I re glued the mesh in with stickerflex where it had been lifting, and painted the extreme edge where it meets the wheel arch - the sprayer had managed to miss those bits, and repainted the wheel arch part of the bumper itself where stone chips have taken their toll.

Then sorted the omega wiper stalk out while paints and laquers got some drying time.

Finally sorted out the front bumper, nobody ever seems to fasten them into the subframe (including me) but have done it now.

All in all not a bad day. Have had the car just over a year and I'm still finding things to tinker with.

Mid radio info

Have been doing a little reading on I2C...

Have been doing a little reading on I2C communications, and I'm beginning to think this is the protocol used. I'm no electronics wizz, electrics I can do in my sleep, electronics I'm out of my depth very quickly.

Can anybody confirm this?

Also I'm thinking If (and it is if) aftermarket headunits use this protocol to put the info on the front display, then if these wires could be found and tapped, they could possibly be used to drive the mid/tid display aswell.

I know the sony/kenwood ones do all this out of the box, but I'm not desperate to pay that kind of money for less overall functionality than I get at the moment with my tevion unit.

My tevion unit, has unused pins but their support number is duff (not suprisingly) so no chance of getting through to a guy in the know as to what the extra pins are for.

Anyway yeah, any info welcome, I'm playing around with a spare display at the mo, but need to get a head unit to carry on the experiments with.
