Thumbs down Problems with radiator fan Corsa 1.2 (1996)

Hello everyone,

Rencently on my cosra 1.2 (1996) my hose that goes into the rad on the drivers side burst. (i didnt even notice for a couple of days, until it started over heating)

I brought a new hose fitted it everything was fine for a couple of days then i noticed my fan wasent kicking in at all.

I then went to the brakers and brought a new fan (i bridged the connections on the old fan and nothing happened) this is what lead me to think i needed to get a new fan)

So i fitted the new fan drained out all the water and left my hose pipe running to flush it all through. I then topped it up and let it run for a while (the fan didnt come on at all, STILL LOL)

So i bridged connections on the new fan and it didnt work. I even connected fan to a car battery with jump leads and this got the old and new fan working but when its all connected to my car i get nothing.

Ive had someone look at it and ive read my haynes manual and its saying something about checking the earth wire because it my be faulty ? (I havent a clue where this earth wire is).

Ive even checked the wire connections on the one leading to the fan and the cooling switch and they all seem find a secure.

Also when i start the car i have to hold the key and hit the gas it dont start running until about 5-7 secs.

Ive not long replaced the sensor that tells the fan to switch on this is on the button left on rad. (Maybe because the pipe split this got covered in water and now its dead ? OR the earth wire is dodgy).

Thats all i can really think of as im no genius with cars lol any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Glenn

I would first check you have power going to your sensor before proceeding. Also check the fuses in the fusebox, and engine bay fuse box as its likely the water spill has caused a fuse to trip.
