Default Popped over for a quick coffee

Hi all,

car had its mot 29th flew through and just as I was leaving one of the rear springs went so the days spent went from £35 to £219 have to buy a pair. Still could have been worse was tempted to take it to a Vaux garage this year and a set of springs would have cost £222 + 3 hours labour @ £135 ph = £627... + they would have failed it I guess.

Been having rough idle for a few weeks, cleaned the ICV a few times then decided to change it...a bit better, still not 100% well today I started to fit an Oil Catch Tank so I stripped the pleniums off and gave them a good clean, 6 cans of carb cleaner lol even took the lower plenum off and replace the gaskets, discovered one of the plenum rubbers had split - so that was the cause of my rough tickover too much air

Cant wait to see the diff it makes not have my plenums oiled up as they do.

Hope everyones well.

Nick

So was I, always get panicky over the emissions but it flew through, even with the not so perfect tickover.

Yeah its weird think the rubbers are past their sell-by date so another set with std clips this time round, had the plenums off a few times lately as I wasnt sure if it was a plug, lead or the coilpack, trust me not to check the obvious. Really getting on my nerves with the oil these engines accumulate in the plenums, so the oil catch tank is a must. Also have blanked off the EGR as I was driving with it running and it just didnt feel right, better with it blanked me thinks

Sorry to hear about cam-belt going I had mine done last year.
