Well since 8 this morning, I have been on the phone to 3 Vauxhall dealers and Vauxhall head office.

Dealer 1:- Denied every fitting a new engine, wanted £340 to fit a cam-belt on Monday only after I left the car with them all day tomorrow...so they could carry-out a 15 minute safety check WTF????? They operate a first come first serve, so if my car is not there for 8 they wouldnt guarantee it being completed on Monday WTF??????? Also they are miles from where I live and they do not have any customer courtesy facilties WTF??????

Dealer 2:-Wanted £700 to fit a cam-belt on Monday, they are close to me.

Vauxhall:-Confirmed new engine was fitted in July 2005, with uprated cams etc etc etc and that dealers can charge what they like WTF?????

My friends who owns a garage mentioned another dealer, a family run business......

Dealer 3:-Wanted £369 but will price match, they have time slots - booked in for 9.30 finished 2.30, they will collect and drop-off car. They are 15 minutes from my girls-friends - so the car is now booked in for Monday and will be done for £340.

some of them dont know what they are talking about i used to work for a vauxhall main agent and the staff on the front counter are not mechanics or know anything about cars
its all on computers but have never known them to put bigger cams in unless asked to do so
but i found that the prices do change from one to the other its like when i needed a rack for mine one wanted £500 + vat and one wanted £450 all in so yes they do change the price do change

The cams were part of a compensation package I was offered (also included leads, plugs, coil-pack and clutch, plus money for hire car) as I had 4 re-con engines fitted (2004-2005) prior to the fifth new engine that all failed - I was taking legal action at the time and as it was all done through Vauxhall head office the details were recorded as warranty so I wouldnt have any paper work.

my mate charges 100quid to do the belt and pump as he is doing mine in jan

the price you got aint too bad tbh as long as it includes the pump as well and antifreeze also

It will £470 inc pump as a genuine vx pump is £130

Take that back, pump is £42.27 and they will fit mine

So it'll cost me £382.27 all in
