Default Porsche Carerra 4- Mini detail (Pic-heavy)

This car belongs to my business adviser- absolutely stunning motor, and it was most enjoyable to have a go at!

TBH it could do with some paint correction doing.. something I'll be doing hopefully in the coming months once I'm all setup properly in a workshop and can get it in for the week.

I was also rather limited to the products which I used, as this is just my own stuff that I used on my car and had ran out of a lot of stuff!

The car itself is standard, apart from modified exhausts (They've had a bit of pipe welded in to make them more free-flowing and make it sound better), and some xenon headlamps, which Sergio tells me were an optional extra costing about £1,600... EACH! Luckily he picked them up on eBay for £800 (IIRC).. And I must say- they really are SPOT ON!

Well... here goes...

DAY 1:

Sergio's owned this car for a couple of years now, and NEVER had it detailed, or even polished/ waxed, so although it doesn';t look particularly dirty, I knew that there was a lot of work to be done to show off it's full potential.

Few pics of it before I set to work:

First up, I sprayed the whole car with traffic film removed and left to penetrate the heavily-soiled areas for about 5 minutes, then power-hosed off.

I then set about the rubbers around the windows, and bits of trim, spraying on G101 at an 8:1 ratio, left to penetrate for about 2 minutes, agitated with a small toothbrush, then power-washed off.

Great start- I never took any pics of this! Oops!

Next up, it was time for what would be probably the biggest job of the day- the wheels!

To do a proper job, I jacked it up:

..Removed them, and done them one at a time.

I was greeted with this in the wheel arch linings:

With the engine being located at the rear on this car, the rear arch linings were rather filthy to say the least.

So I mixed up some G101 at an 8:1 ratio, and sprayed it on, then left to penetrate for a few minutes:

Then I agitated it with a small nail brush:

(I also used a little bit of Gunk in aerosol form, for the heavily soiled patches of oil)

And power-washed off:

I actually repeated this process again here, but forgot to take pics.

Anyway, back to the wheels...

I didn't want to use any acidic cleaner on the wheels, so decided to set about them with G101 mixed at a 2:1 ratio. I set about them with a few different brushes/ wash mitts until I had them as clean as I could possibly get them.

I also started removing some of the tar spots, and old sticky stuff from where weights had been removed, but soon ran out of the stuff, so had to leave the rest for next time.

After they were cleaned:

These were the rears I were working on at this time.. and just look at how wide they are.. pic next to my foot, for comparison!

NICE!

Moving on...

I then used a Meg's drying towel to dry them off thoroughly, before prepping the surface with DoDo Juice Lime Prime. Once I remove this, I now had a nice surface, ready for polishing (I used AG SRP), buffed off to a nice shine, then applied a layer of DoDo Juice Supernatural to give them some protection.

Sorry I forgot to take pics of these stages, but anyway, here it is re-fitted (It was now raining outside, which allowed me to capture a nice shot of the beading on them, thanks to the DJ SN ):

More pics of them in all their glory, will follow later

I then moved onto the front wheels and repeated the process.

To do just the 4 wheels and arch linings alone, it took me about 4 hours! Well worth the time though as the results were fab. Just a shame I dont have a decent camera, and remember to take pics at all stages lol.

Oh.. some nice brakes on this too.. thought I'd take a quick snap for you

Not ceramic, but they, apparently, were a very costly optional extra!

OK next it was time to power-wash the car again to remove any dirt laying on the surface, to avoid scratching the paintwork. I then washed it using the 2-bucket method, with DoDo Juice Born to be Mild shampoo:

I washed it twice using the DJ BTBM and a 2-bucket method to make sure I got it as clean as possible.

I then took it inside to dry off using a Meg's drying towel and a few microfibers

Sure Matt bring it to me, but you'll need to cling film it to take it back home as you won't wanna get it dirty again

OK...

DAY 2:

Just been looking through the remaining pics I took, and it seems I only have these 2 pics of the wheels, which were taken inside, and obviously with my sh*tty camera and bad lighting they don't look as good as they were. I also took these before treating the tyres!

Next thing I done, now that the car was completely bone dry, was clayed it using a new bar Sonus. No pics, but I must say, there was a LOT of grime come off with it, as well as a few tar spots that had collected on the underside of the skirts.

I then went over the entire car with DoDo Juice Lime Prime to prepare the surface for polishing using AG SRP (Auto Glym Super Resin Polish)- Some people underestimate how good this stuff is... It's a filler-polish with very light abrasives, so for hand polishing this car, was quite good as it allowed me to remove light scratches.

I'm rather appauled at myself actually, as I've missed a LOT of things with the camera, and a load haven't turned out very good so not worth uploading. I'll be investing in a DSLR in the coming month or 2 though, so that'll fix that problem once & for all

Anyway, after polishing, a made sure I got rid of all the dust (AG SRP creates a fair bit of that!) with some microfiber cloths. I then gave it a nice coat of wax using DoDo Juice Supernatural, which is very long-lasting, and creates a very good protection.

Left to cure for about 10-15 minutes, then buffed off using microfibers:

Pics dont do this justice really.. poo camera!

Numerous other pics of waxing different parts:

I also gave the rear lights a thorough going over with clay, then AG window polish.. great stuff!

Here's some slightly better shots of the finished result after waxing, due to the garage door being open, giving some natural lighting:

Next up it was time to do the inside, which to be quite honest, with the exception of the mats in the front, and the insides of the windows- it was pretty much spotless:

Here's a before of one of the mats:

You'll just need to take my word for it that after a good scrub with G101 mixed at 10/1, they came up like brand new- As I never took any after pics... bummer!

Seats were cleaned and treated using liquid leather.. great stuff. Dash/ trim cleaned & polished, carpets given a light rub with G101, then hoovered.

Looked like new in there after I was finished.

I then set about the door shuts, which I hadn't touched yet:

For this, I just used G101 diluted to 10/1, dried off:

...clayed, lime primed, polished, buffed, then given a coat of DJ SN. They come up a treat! :

I also gave the boot a hoover & a clean using, again- G101 (Limited products as I say) mixed at 10/1, dried off...:

....then used some foaming dash shine stuff (Sorry can't remember what it's called) to give it a shine. Sorry no pics after adding that!.

The exhaust, as you saw in post 1 of this thread, was absolutely mining!

And yes, you guessed it- I never took final pics of it. However I did take a couple after giving them their first treatment of autosol polish:

Needless to say, after the 3rd go at them, they looked pretty much brand new inside & out!

Lastly, I gave all the windows a clean using AG window cleaner, then polished using AG window Polish. I then buffed them to a nice shine using microfibers, and buffed the entire car again with yet more microfibers, to free it of any dust.

Anyway now for the big let down...

Sergio has been in the garage with me the whole time as he was amazed at what I were doing.. plus, I was actually having a meeting with him about my new business venture while doing his car lol! Anyway to cut a long story short, he stuck the radio on in his car and yes you guessed it.. flat battery so I was absolutely GUTTED that I couldn't take the car back outside to get some pics of how it looked.

The camera can't pick up just how NEW the car looked due to the minimal space and lighting in the garage, but I did take a select few pics anyway:

(Bit of dust on that last pic- oops!)The good news is- Sergio gave me a call the following day, after having charged his battery and took the car outside ready to go to work, and gladly- he's taken a few pics on his digi cam, so just waiting for him to send them over to me. I'll post them up soon as I have them.Again, sorry for what may have turned out to be a bit of a let-down thread due to my poor camera, my dippy brain for not taking pics when it mattered most, and sorry on Sergio's behalf for being a numb-nutt and forgetting to start the car to charge the battery!

Next time you see a thread go up for this car, it'll be having paint correction work done on it, and more products used, and of course- better pics on my new DSLR camera.

Until then... Hope this has been an 'OK' read for at least some of you
