Default Ported or non-ported box?

My 2x 15 Vibe subs need to be re-housed as the boxes they are in take up too much space in my boot and are stopping me from doing a nice looking install.

What I want to do is buy something like this: Twin 15" Fifteen Inch Sub Boom Box MDF Enclosure Bass on eBay, also Sub-Woofers Tubes, Speakers, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 29-Apr-09 20:00:00 BST)

IF I were to put my subs into a ported box- would they run correctly and what would the sound change be like?

The subs in question are the Vibe 15" SLR's

I don't want to port them- I want to buy a new box that's already ported (twin box).

I want to know what the sound difference will be like and will these subs run properly in a ported box still?

when subs are in sealed boxes they operaate only at appox 50-82Hz frequency, if you run them in a ported box, the box can be tuned to operate anywhere between 25 and 82Hz, this is the main difference in box design, however there is also subsonic frequency variation to take into account, meaning that the box size has to be larger in size to generate more powerfull and aggresive bass, thus making the bass sound a little less controlled.

its really as said above down to personal preferance. as a box specifically desinged to make big noise is never going to look as good as a sealed unit,

so in short, what do you want "LOOKS" or "POWER" ????

if its power you want you are gonna ideally need an amp that is more powerfull than your subs, not deadly important but for the subs to run at full potential this is the route.

Thanks Keith. That's helped me in my decision.

I'll go for a new twin sealed box.
