sorry not much info lol,, any way i sold my vectra b and after going up and down the country i found me self a mint 53 plate vectra c 2.0 sxi turbo with only 45,000 on the clock, full service history,1 owner and love it, the problem i have got is when you start it up there is a clonk/bang then this screeching noise like something needs oiling so been looking for it and found that its coming from where the aux belt is i think its the tensioner but not sure as when i start the car i can see it jump and shudder so what do you reckon??? also ive got play in both front wheels when jacked up and hands in the 9 3 positions there is this slight clonk ???? any help please,, ill get some pictures up soon for you lot to have a look cheer.
Re: clonk/bang screeching noise on start up from aux belt area
could it be just a loose belt bud might be worth seeing how much play there is but tbh see if lee agrees with me on this may be easier to get it into the garage the clonking could be any number of things bud
might be a idea to get a wheel off and see if you can see out
Re: clonk/bang screeching noise on start up from aux belt area
If its screeching on startup, and looks like its moving, its very likely a tensioner issue for the fanbelt. I'm willing to bet money that the cambelt has obvuiously been done at 40k, but the tensioner for the fanbelt hasn't, and its failing.
A new fanbelt tensioner, and fanbelt will sort the problem out buddy. It shouldn't cost too much if its not covered by warranty either.
Re: clonk/bang screeching noise on start up from aux belt area
costs even less if you refurb the tensioner yourself! Assuming the vec c is similar to the vec b in that area then it can be done at the bench with basic tools
