I've been using confused.com to check some prices for certain cars to get an idea of prices... Its true, I can't wait much longer, as hating using trains, taxi's and buses already!!
But WTF, I'm guessing prices back now higher than I did 4-5 years ago! It cost me £400 odd to insure a 3.0 MV6 miggy in 2003 odd, and even with 8 years no claims currently its even MORE money, costing almost double for the same car!
WTF is going on with insurance prices!!!!
Jesus, my previous trade policy only cost me £680 for a whole year, unlimited mileage, fully comp agreed upto 15k value... Thats mad!
yup going mental due to the number of uninsured drivers
i want to go trade policy as ive got access to a small strip of land where i can sell cars and a mate who works on cars for a local auction company plus he has his own garage but even trade policys have gone daft
my insurance has gone up over £100 this year so im not insuring with my current company as they cannot go any lower so bye bye elephant insurance
I'm tempted to renew with my previous trader insurance brokers. Trouble is I took the insurance because I was due to start trading, and I didn't due to my back problems which leaves me in hot water really. I took a slight risk because it was paid in full, but I can't really do it knowing I won't be trading in the next year to be honest.
Especially when my rental agreement on my house prohibits me trading from the address. haha.
I used tesco compare to get quotes for a 2000 Omega 2.2 CDX estate and the prices are better overall. Maybe half the problem is confused.com with higher rates.
Cheapest for confused.com: Budget @ £706
Cheapest for tescocompare: Swiftcover @ £582.92
Obviously the details are identical for me and the car... But jesus, I didn't expect quotes like this for a 28yr old with 8 years no claims, no points or convictions!
ive got 16 years driving experiance including performance cars cosworths etc im 33 non smoker no points 4 years no claims due to the company i worked for going bust so lost my 6 years with them the red vec was £310 comp the blue vec is £380 at the min but when i renew its £460 with 300 excess wtf
I'm not rushing into purchasing the first car I see anyway, so hopefully the insurance prices will reduce slightly. I'll also be trying both of our insurance sponsors on this forum.
I have decided though, that I'll be purchasing a facelift Omega, 2.2 Auto, CDX estate. I was going to wait and get an Evo 5/6 next year, but its already doing my head in travelling between home and Cambridge on the trains, and it would actually be cheaper using a car by the time I've spent nearly £40 on taxi's and the train ticket to get there!!
I refuse to pay over £800 for an Omega 3.0/3.2 auto on insurance unfortunately, as i really wanted a 3.2 MV6! Its just not worth the expense for a lowsy 6k miles a year i currently do! Insurance is just as bad for a 2.5, so might as well get a 4 pot and save some fuel.
Nah, as the bulk of my miles are on the motorway, which will be returning decent MPG anyway. I lose out around town, but I tend to drive slower and more smoothly around town so it shouldnt be too bad.
I'm not doing enough miles for a derv really. Besides which I'd like something now, and most derv's are out of my current price range.
I'm only looking at spending a max of £900, so I can pay insurance and tax and have spare money to collect the car, and anything else needed.
best way bud i do alot of stop start in town as work is 2 mins away by car and so is my missus work so id prefer a small 1.0 for that and the vec for long distance
