Default Nissan Pulsar GTIR

Just been thinking really...

A couple of people have said that you can pick mint ones up for about £2.5k nowadays...

Do you agree with this, and what's your thoughts on these cars?

Thinking about something different for the winter months this year.. something turbo, and quite probably- something Jap!

I was thinking about an MR2, but not really keen on the looks of them if I'm honest (Unless they're Vielside kitted!)

Comments welcome

they are pretty reliable IF looked after properly, but gearboxes are known weak points on them. Still, 4wd, turbo power is mucho funo in such a small shell, and I happen to quite like the OTT bonnet scoops they have. They also happen to be lunatic, STUUUUUUUUUPID fast as well... So perfect mix then eh!

An MR2 would be rather mental in winter months.. they are sideways happy at the best of times... Bolt a turbo on it, give it loads more power, add wet roads to the mix and...well... it'll be an experience for you!! LOL.

I'd go for a GTi-R, or an old skool cool R32 Skyline GTS instead...Or even a 200SX, or even a 300ZE Twin turbo... Though all of those are RWD and turbocharged... So would be just as bad as the Mr2 and WILL punish you if you push it too hard in bad weather.

Gotta agree with leeky here.

Most of the turbo'd jap cars aren't the best in winter weather lol. Personally i dont rate the Pulsar think they are ugly and rather pathetic looking cars but each to there own mate.

If it was me, and it was purely for winter use, I would choose from three cars... And ultimately it would only be one:

1) Toyota Celica GT-FOUR
2) Subaru Impreza
3) Nissan Pulsar GTi-R

All three are 4x4, turbocharged 2.0 engines, with similar power. No. 2 and 3 have there issues, but No.1...

...Its a Toyota... They just dont break, they are rock solid reliable, and although its not as powerful as a UK Impreza turbo, or a Pulsar, its still bloody quick and handles absolutely awesome.

My pick would be the Toyota for those reasons above, plus its not seen very often on the roads. In my opinion is seriously underated and suffers with little of the flaws most Japanese rockets do.

A close 2nd would be the Subaru. Its not the most reliable car ever, but its awesome fun.

Ultimately, any 4x4 turbocharged car is going to be forgiving if you push it too much, and its likely that unless your Schumacher your never going to push it to its absolute limits anyway!

Thanks mate, but if I'm honest- all 3 of those cars are ugly.. although I do prefer the looks of the Pulsar over the others.

I think the new impreza (Not the latest one!), and the Evo's are the only really sexy Jap car's I know of. They have a habbit of making stupidly quick, yet ugly cars for some reason lol.

Yes, because the important factor is how quick they go!!

OMG, the 'proper' Celica GT-Four is not ugly... Its awesome, and certainly not the 'hair-dressers' versions we had over here...

Besides, who gives a **** what it looks like, as long as it goes like the clappers.
