Default Fitting an Omega auto-dim mirror in a Vectra...

What do these 'auto-dim' mirrors actually do?

Anyone got one fitted in their Vectra?
How difficult was it to do?

all they do is automatically flip the glass upward when headlights are detected by the photo sensor within the mirror

From what i've heard the mount that is attached to the windscreen glass needs changing. Theres also a bit of wiring to do also.

I looked into doing this then i saw the bit about the mirror mount needing changing which put me off

Thanks mate. That's enough to put me off doing it too.

Along with the fact lights never shine in my mirror and blind me anyway... not really much point me doing this mod. Thanks Dave

Use a Vectra C one, much easier. Designed to stop dazzle from vehicles behind at night.

Not on mine it doesn't. The omega mirror I have actually polarises, as can be seen when you cover the sensor and put a bright light source behind it in daytime. It darkens gradually, which wouldn't happen if it had to clunk glass about

Wrong again m8, the exsting block attached to the windscreen will take the mirror no problems and does not need to be touched. The fitment on the actual mirror has two "wings" that need to be reomved but this is a very esay procedure

I think it's a cracking mod, and yes there is a bit of wiring to do, exactly how much depends on how factory you want it to be. if you only wan the mirror to dip, you only need to deal with two or three wires, if you want the full hit then you have to be prepared to get yur hands dirty a little But deffo worth it.

Not to dave's.veccy: Sorry if it sounds like I'm having a go at you m8, not intended at all, just clearing up some misconceptions

hth

this is what i thought they did as well never seen a motorised flip one, seems pointless having a motor one when you can just flip it you self,

If i could get or be arse i would get the polarised one Tom
