Default Engine Managment light on

And cutting out!

knew it was too good to be true! en route to the mot station its kinda died as i slowed to stop, the eml came on and it cut out. I tried to start it again, lights stayed on and it just turned over but wouldnt fire. Gave it a minute the light went out, the started it again - started fine.
Driving along the light came on again- seems to be related to lower revs, if you rev it a little it prevents it from cutting out - then the light went back off. it drove the rest of the journey fine.

Any ideas??

Thanks.

I once had a similar problem with mine cutting out at low revs, but that was because I thought the car would run OK without the Air Flow Sensor

Still.... could be the air flow sensor that's packed up on yours? So maybe not totally useless info.

Best way to find out though is to get the fault code(s) read.

Never done it myself, but maybe you could do the famous 'Paperclip test'.

lol. No.. welcome to the world of Vauxhalls lol.

I've never done the paperclip test but plenty people have. So I won't comment on what not to do because I'll probably be wrong.

You off to the stationary shop now to get cardboard and paperclips?

Tell you what- grab a ruler while your there so you can measure your cars torque

there is a how to do the test in the how2 section hope it helps.
i had the same fault on my 2.0 i cleaned out the throttle body and the iac valve it made a slight change but in the end it was the cam sensor.

What have you done to it Alaina ?

Women & Cars Tut Tut :nono: LoL

Seriously get it to a Dealer, preferably a VX one and get a Tech 2 test done first before speculating. May cost some money but at least you are told what the fault/glitch is.
