We are looking at launching a system whereby, to get a quote from us, you have the option of sending your details by email to us and then we will contact you with the quote.

This would also assist those who can't get ring us during working hours or those who would just prefer to correspond through the forum.

My question is would this be helpful to you?

I'd appreciate your comments.
I personally think it's a great idea, since making phone calls can be frustrating, and rather time-consuming at times.

I mostly use email for contacting people these days, as it allows me to deal with the reply as & when it suits me best.

If you're in a position to be able to answer email quotation requests, I would be 100% behind the idea.

Another good thing about this, from VVON's point of view would be for ease of use for our members- I could add a form to the main VVON site- VVON.co.uk where members could submit all the details you guys need to be able to do a quote. They simply fill in the fields, click the submit button, and you get the email, along with their email address.

I think it would be a fantastic idea, and beneficial for all parties. I use trade insurance, so no use for me, but the idea of a simple, easy insurance quote will suit everyone! I am considering insuring my ST200 with an agreed valuation on a seperate policy once rebuilt though due to its rarity, so....

A few Questions if thats ok?
  1. Can you quote for modified cars?
  2. Do you cover parts on a like for like replacement basis?
  3. Will you cover cars with engine conversions? Most insurance companies run a mile!
  4. Are there certain engine modifications e.g. Turbo/Supercharger or NOS conversions you wont cover?
  5. Will you do agreed valuations on heavily modified, or rare cars?
  6. If you need age, I'm 27 with 8 yrs NCD

These are some of the questions I wished I could find out before ringing an insurance company, wasting 30 mins of my time and then being told they dont, or wont cover the above due to whatever reasons.

There is no doubting the success of our insurance scheme and we do thank all of you for ringing us.
However, we are often asked about online quoting.

The scheme is such that it is impossible to quote online but we have an idea!

We prefer people to ring us for a quote but if you're car insurance renewal is due within the next 21 days, please feel free to complete the questions below, then copy & paste, then email to peter.haywood@chrisknott.co.uk, who will contact you with the quote.

The scheme starts for ages 22 and over for Comprehensive cover (though 25 for some cars), & 19 and over for TPF&T cover, and you must have at least 1 year's NCB (unless you have NCB on a second car or a company car letter to state at least 1 year's claim free driving).

All drivers must have held a full UK licence for at least 1 year, and to insure a 'performance' car, there must be at least 1 years experience of driving that, or similar performance cars. Unfortunately, the scheme is not competitive on all M - Manchester, L - Liverpool, OL - Oldham & SK1-12 - Stockport postcodes and excludes Northern Ireland.

1.WE WILL ONLY QUOTE IF YOUR CAR INSURANCE RENEWAL DATE IS WITHIN 21 DAYS OF THE DATE OF YOUR EMAIL,
2.PLEASE ANSWER EVERY QUESTION BELOW,
3.COPY & PASTE ALL THE TEXT FROM 'NAME OF CLUB' DOWN TO THE BOTTOM
4.EMAIL THIS TO peter.haywood@chrisknott.co.uk
5.WE WILL RING YOU BACK WITH THE QUOTE. (IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING WITHIN 24 HOURS, PLEASE RING US AS WE INTEND TO LEAVE MESSAGES & SEND EMAILS SAYING WE HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT YOU).

Here you go - (if at all possible, can you reply in CAPITALS and different font/colour please?)

Hi

A tip off!!!

The 'word on the street' is that premiums are 'hardening' meaning that they are going up.

HOWEVER.................

I was in the office yesterday & the New Business Manager told me that due to the success of our insurance scheme this year, the set targets each month have been upped by 25% remarkably! This started on 1/10/09.

Even though we have had a good month already, on reckoning it could be that we are just under the set target so he told me that premiums will be even cheaper for people who have renewal dates from now until 31/10/09 just so that these targets can be met!!!

The difficulty is that from now until February, there aren't as many people insuring cars.

My thought is that, because of these quieter months, the premiums will continue to be cheaper for those who have renewal dates for now, November, December, January & early February.

All I'd say is it's worth a call ESPECIALLY if your renewal date is within these months.

(My long-term thought is that if the insurers show a decent profit due to increased business but at lower premiums, then this will continue throughout next year but that is only me surmising!).
