Default air con gassing

had the air con regassed last week, £45 and it worked a dream.

Today nothing but coolish air and turning it off made no difference at all.

When it is regassed should the gas putter in check there are no leaks or do they just gas it up ?

Ta ever so

if they re-gas a system they should ensure the air con is working correctly before re-gassing and a leak test carried out after the re-gas completed

Depends where you take it bud.

I know a few places which charge £65 just to re-gas the air con in Peterborough- However after hearing a radio advertisement on local station- I found a little garage out in the sticks which does a full air con service, checking for leaks, and if no leaks- they re-gas it- All for £35!

But if they find a leaks, they will give you a price to repair it and it's up to you if you want to pay it or not. He said fixing the air-con system could cost anywhere between £20 and £320.

If they find a leak- you still have to pay your £35, and luckily the guy showed me where the leak was coming from (After a pressure test) and I have the bit here which I bought for £10 (2nd hand).

Now I've just got to take my car back to him and he will fit it for £15, re-do the pressure test, then re-gas at no cost (Since I already paid my £35).

TBH I would never get air con regassed before finding out if they will do a pressure/ leak test first.

many places (i.e kwik-fit) dont have experianced ac specialists in house and the machine is usually used by the apprentice so if there is a leak it goes undetected until you go to use your ac and find it dont work after a few days.
