Default vauxhall astra 1.7 DTI year 2000 power steering pump?

hi today i jumped in my car after work and went to pull off and my steering was so heavy i keeped driving STARGHT and it was fine agen got home swiched car off started back up and it hapened agen very heavy ?? i have checked fluid thats fine i dont know wants going on can you please help ME!!

I would have said it's the fluid too but- Maybe it's the power steering pump?

out of interest is the aux belt (fan belt) loose ? or even on at all. if yes then i would say the power steering pump is caput

yes the aux belt is still on.

is there any way to check the pump is working?

out of interest have you tried bleeding the power steering system?

all you have to do is open the bleed nipple, on the pump itself, start car and turn from full lock to full lock a few times, re do the bleed nipple and see if theres any difference, when turning to full lock keep it down as far as it will go and see if you hear a whoosin noise, if not then its more than likely the pump is cream krackered
